Dance carries memory. Passed from body to body, it holds on to what might otherwise fade – gestures, rhythms, ways of being, of being together. Yet holding on is not the same as keeping alive. What we hold on to can also hold us back. The Dutch Arno Schuitemaker and BODHI PROJECT create a choreographic testament to survival. Woven in the bone does not seek to reconstruct what is lost, or might be lost, but to embody resistance; to allow ourselves to evolve, to insist that in the face of today’s efforts to preserve, something new must emerge. The performance combines electronic music with the work of Kae Tempest, creating an embodied experience that is both immersive and urgent. Starting from their voices, and moving as one, five dancers reshape movement into transformation itself, tracing how the body navigates the power of change. Defiant. Alive.
Arno Schuitemaker creates hyperphysical works where dance, performance, art and the ethos of club culture converge. His layered, meticulously crafted work is acclaimed for exploring the interplay between the intimate and the collective.
Susan Quinn, founder and artistic director of SEAD – Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance and BODHI PROJECT, established the internationally touring repertory company in 2008. The BODHI PROJECT serves as a platform for diverse choreographic voices and is renowned for its artistic and technical excellence.
