will be happening from 10 to 22 June at Sommerszene in Salzburg. The programme deliberately spans a broad arc of themes, styles and aesthetics that can be seen at six different venues. For thirteen days the twelve selected productions offer a series of truly magical artistic experiences.
With the sound and light installation Evanescent, Australian duo Atelier Sisu will transform the inner courtyard of the Residenz into a wonderland of bubbles that brilliantly conjures transient moments of beauty. The Moroccan/French choreographer Taoufiq Izeddiou provides spellbinding fireworks of dance with live music in his high-energy piece La Terre en Transe. The Argentinian-born artist Ayelen Parolin visits with ZONDER, enchanting audiences with an anarchic sense of humour in waltz time. For Woven in the bone Dutch artist Arno Schuitemaker and BODHI Project investigate the social codes of club culture. In Natural Order of Things by the Spanish/Lebanese duo Maria Campos & Guy Nader, virtuosic movement meets incisive sound to evoke the beauty of chaotic systems. Martin Kilvady is inspired to create a fleet-footed improvisation in The Fauns of Evanescent. Helene Weinzierl and CieLAROQUE outline the fragility of our perceptions in thiS is nOt a sunSet. The Lebanese dancer Omar Rajeh sends a strong political signal with Dance is not for us – his solo movingly expresses the pain caused by the destruction of Beirut. In REALITY BANG the Finnish company Oblivia presents an absurd musical explosion of contemporary life. Applied Theater adopts a performative approach to the collective archiving of fleeting moments with X Human Minutes. The outstanding Austrian choreographer Doris Uhlich makes an emphatic artistic contribution with two productions. With her site-specific promenade piece downstairs she brings movement to the Museum der Moderne on the Mönchsberg. And with the revival of her legendary piece more than naked followed by a Flesh Floor Party, a magnificent finale is guaranteed.
We look forward to a great many REAL MAGIC moments at Sommerszene 2025.
