Ephemeral Dances, passing by stories
The internationally renowned artist Martin Kilvady is inspired by the large-scale artwork Evanescent to create an evening of dance. Together with a group of performers who form under the name The Good Bunch, he develops contemporary movement material that captures the permeability and ephemerality of Atelier Sisu's installation. The dance is accompanied by live music from instrumentalist and composer Simon Thierrée. The Fauns of Evanescent poetically combines dance, music, and the installation artwork, transforming the courtyard of the Residenz in Salzburg’s DomQuartier into the backdrop for a spontaneous and unique dance encounter.
Born in Slovakia, Martin Kilvady lived and worked in Brussels for many years before moving to Salzburg. He danced in the companies of Anna Teresa de Keersmaeker/ROSAS and Thomas Hauert/ZOO and is a co-founder of the collective Les SlovaKs. To date, he has created forty of his own productions, has been teaching for over thirty years, and is devoted to researching movement.
Close your eyes, just for a moment
Close your eyes, so you can see clearly
Close your eyes and let the inside appear
I'm hiding, so you can look for me
I'm hiding here, only to be close to you
I'm yours, but you can't hold me
I'm a moment, mirage or an apparition
Ilusory moment passing by
Tonight we are here, together
We are an encounter
A meeting of what we imagine and what is
actually here
Impossible to grasp, only held by not being present.
Martin Kilvady
Beauty is the harvest of presence
The evanescent moment of seeing or hearing on the
outside what already lives far inside us
