Rauschen

The Kollegienkirche provides a special setting with a unique atmosphere for the performative installation Rauschen. Numerous performers swing ribbons used in rhythmic gymnastics in continual motion. Driven on by the power of electronic music, the ribbons demonstrate a subtle variety of movement patterns: circles, spirals and waves merge, at times gently, at times abruptly, as a pulsating organic web grows. Rauschen shows patterns that are inscribed deep within us and can be found in nature everywhere. Minimal adjustments of parameters such as speed and intensity enable spectators to sense the rushing sound alluded to in the work's title.
In their artistic practice the choreographers Cornelia Böhnisch and Katharina Schrott explore the dynamic relationship between bodies, movement and materials. In their explorations of a variety of materials (textiles, sound, fluids) they have created a series of productions that offer pervasive somatic experiences. In 2022 they were awarded the International Main Prize for Art & Culture by the Kulturfonds of the City of Salzburg for their artistic work.
