Motus means (physical) movement, dance, mental activity, and much more—all of which the Motus Percussion Ensemble brings together in its concert. In Epicentre Johannes Maria Staud has three percussionists switch between setups, focusing on different sound materials in each of the three parts: skin, metal, and wood. Georges Aperghis' music always has theatrical aspects, while Iannis Xenakis refers to Indian and African rhythm studies in his solo classic Psappha and, with his archaic approach, has in turn influenced Argentine-born Graciela Paraskevaídis.
